Wearing face masks is still mandatory in Regional Victoria and it is important that you adopt the necessary steps when getting ready to go out. 😷 - Wash your hands before putting on the mask. 😷 - Make sure it covers your nose and mouth and fits snugly under your chin, over the bridge of your nose and against the sides of your face. 😷- Do not touch the front of the mask while wearing it. If you do touch the mask, wash or sanitise your hands immediately. Do not allow the mask to hang around your neck. 😷 -To remove the mask wash or sanitise your hands first. Carefully remove your mask by grasping the ear loops or untying the ties. For masks with a pair of ties, unfasten the bottom one first, then the top one. If your mask has filters, remove them and throw them away. Fold the mask and put it directly into the laundry or into a disposable or washable bag for laundering. Single use surgical masks should be disposed of responsibly. 😷- Wash or sanitise your hands after removing the mask. Putting on your Mask – and showing your true colours!
VicHealth and myself were delighted to host an online discussion exploring the insights from my report, Engagement Inspiration from LGBTIQ people in Latrobe. We discussed what LGBTIQ people in Latrobe have told us about what works and doesn't work when engaging with their community and how thoughtful engagement can be a more meaningful experience for everyone. Engagement Inspiration from LGBTIQ People in Latrobe
Access to Services in Latrobe was identified as a priority in the Advocate’s 2019/20 Statement of Intent. When work began people in Latrobe found it hard to get an appointment with a doctor, their experience with services did not always meet their expectations and their health was being impacted. Local doctors were in high demand and the system seemed to be working against them. In February 2020 as part of the research work, the Advocate brought together a broad range of health experts, government representatives and communities to discuss the issue. The aim of the workshop was to work together to develop an Action Plan that could assist in enabling systems change. More than 60 people attended, representing a range of service providers as well as individuals with an interest in seeing change happen. The advocate presented the research and insights her office had gathered and asked those attending to reflect on how this information compared with their own experience of understanding the system. Participants were then asked to consider what the solution might look like; what would need to be done to enable change? What barriers might be faced and how could these be addressed? With these questions in mind participants were asked to prioritise their aspirations for the future. Together they identified the most important innovations for action. These priorities have now been refined and will form the Advocate’s Action Plan and recommendations to service providers and governments on how Latrobe communities can have better access to services moving forward.
